July 25th 2001, Nyack, New York
Today was the day I have dreamt about for years, the day I accomplished my #1 goal, The day I finally met Bea Arthur!!!
On Tuesday the 24th my dad and I had to go to bed at 4:00 PM so we could get up at midnight, when I got up I had to get into my dress and jewelry and everything I was going to wear to Beas show. I had to sit for 9 hours in the car like that!! When we reached the Helen Hayes Theater in Nyack my dad and I had 3 hours to kill, it was the hottest day of the year, it was like 45 degrees Celsius outside. My dad and I had to walk around for 3 hours on the hottest day of the year in our dress clothes!!. When we finally got seated in the theater at about 1:45 PM I was the youngest person in the whole audience. I had a bad stomach ache because I was so excited! Then Bea came on stage, I swear my mouth dropped down to my knees, we were so close to the stage. She looked so pretty but she had a cast on her ankle, Poor Bea. The show was awsome, I made eye contact with her about 4 times and I even saw her let out a smile when she saw me singing Bosom Buddies with her. After the show My dad and I talked to a stage manager to see if maybe I could talk to her, he told us that she would be at a stage door. My dad waited at the entrance of the theater while I made my way down the aisle to the stage door. There was about 9 people waiting, Stupid me I wasnt paying attention, I was looking around the theater day dreaming when all of a sudden I heard a camera snap then I saw Beas head pop out of the crowd, then I realized I was like 3 feet away from her. I kind of stayed back and let everybody else go before me so I wouldnt seem aggressive. There was this Lady in front of me and she was a motor mouth!!! She talked for about 5 minutes about god knows what and Bea kept looking over at me. After waiting patiently for my turn it was finally time for me to exchange words with Bea. I gave her a card I made for her telling her about my website and how much of a fan I am, and she signed a picture I had of her. and then I gave her a hug, it was wonderful, Bea was so nice. I was in shock walking out of the theater, I was shaking and tears were in my eyes because it finally clicked in my mind "I just got to hug my favorite celebrity of all time!!!" a lady stopped me and asked if I was Ok, every one thought I was going to faint! And I heard another lady talking to her husband "Isnt that cute. Shes so excited." Meanwhile I was on the verge of passing out!! Ha ha. It was a real honor meeting Bea, She is just as beautiful as she is on TV. She is such a remarkable lady. She will always be beautiful and words can't explain how much I admire her. Someday I hope she checks out this website. And Bea just wanted to say, Girl You rock my world, Take care of that ankle!!!
